Sant Jordi, a celebration of love

Every April 23rd, Barcelona comes alive with Sant Jordi, one of Catalonia’s most beloved traditions. Known as the local Valentine’s Day, this festival blends love, literature, and history, turning the city into a grand open-air book and flower fair.
The tradition is rooted in the legend of Saint George, who saved a princess from a dragon, and from the dragon’s blood, a rose bush grew. Over time, this legend merged with World Book Day.
On this day, the streets of Barcelona, particularly Las Ramblas and Passeig de Gràcia, are filled with book and flower stalls.

Sant Jordi, a celebration of love
Traditionally, men give roses to women, and women gift books in return. Authors participate in book signings, and literary events take place across bookstores, libraries, and cultural spaces. Couples, families, and book lovers stroll through the lively streets, embracing the joy of literature and love.
Sant Jordi is a heartfelt celebration of culture, storytelling, and love. It perfectly embodies Barcelona’s vibrant spirit, making it a must-experience tradition for both locals and visitors.
Our guests will receive a very special amenity on this day.
